Here is about the news related to Gary Carter’s condition. It was reported that Carter has a new tumor in his brain. It was a sad news for Carter fans all around the world. Hope that he can face it and he will return healthy. It was the bottom of the 12th inning in a 1986 playoff game against the Houston Astros. It was the same series that featured the epic 16-inning Game 6 clincher, the one that eliminated the unbecoming possibility of facing unhittable Mike Scott in Game 7.

There was Gary Carter, stepping to the plate amidst the collective groan of Met fans everywhere. You see, the Mets and Astros were deeply embedded in a critical 1-1 game. Keith Hernandez was intentionally walked so that Charlie Kerfeld, the Astros' flamboyant reliever, could face Carter, mired in a 1 for 21 all-time drought, one that featured no hard luck or line drives caught, or long fly balls tracked down.

It was a memorable at-bat, this 12th inning struggle against Charlie Kerfeld. Those who watched were anxious because that's what extra inning post-season games cause when no one is hitting. It's a malaise, and this game was too important for malaise.

Gary Carter’s condition has worsened with the discovery of new tumors on his brain, his daughter said Thursday on the family’s blog. “I write these words with tears because I am so sad for my dad,” Kimmy Carter Bloemers said. Carter has had an especially difficult week. Last Wednesday, Carter had an open gum wound treated by an oral surgeon. Carter attended his annual golf tournament’s banquet on Sunday.
